PawHut Wood Chicken Coop Pet Poultry Chicken House Backyard with Nesting Box Ramp Run

I have kept chickens before so have some experience. Thank goodness for it because a novice keeper might assemble this coop and assume it’s safe to put chickens straight into - it definitely is not. There are no locks for the doors, no latch for the nest box and worse still there is no instruction to secure the base of the nest box, so it rests on the panels of the sides. A nosey predator would have zero trouble poking his head through that and getting into the coop! I screwed it down myself but it was not in the instructions. The run is freestanding (which is not pointed out) and does not attach to the coop. The reason for this appears to be that the exits on the coop need to be opened without the run attached otherwise they are inaccessible. Therefore you are letting your chickens out then sticking the run straight over the coop exit to stop the chickens running off. Previous coops I have had have a run attached and the exits are operated by a long armed drop bolt to avoid having your chicken in the open and vulnerable. This makes zero sense. I shouldn’t have made assumptions about this coop in terms of the operation of it, however, why on earth would PawHut design a coop with so many flaws? I’ll finish on a positive - GardenArch were a good website to deal with and delivery was very quick. I assembled the coop alone and it took about two hours. (47yo female with reasonable DIY skills). This coop would be better suited to a large predator proof enclosure where you can let the chickens straight out.

Great coop for fist time chicken keepers, good size for 2 hens or roosters.

Great item. Really easy to put together. Chickens are going to love it!

Smells like sold wood. Some confusion with assembly, but we did get it completed in about an hour!
