Multipurpose Garage Worktable with Pegboard and Drawers-Black

So, firstly the frame is made from light steel, once built it is reasonably solid but it's not for any heavy duty use. The instructions are in general fine and easy to build although there is one part that is easy to install upside down and this is not clear in the instructions since both ends look very similar. The bench top is fairly thick and sealed. The other shelves however are pretty thin MDF. This would be ok (except for moisture over time) if the supports were better, while all 4 edges are supported there is no centre support and so sagging will be inevitable. The drawers are way too shallow for much use. Easy enough to setup alone, took about 3 hours.

For the money I expected this work unit to be a rickety pile of junk when assembled. I took one look at the 100’s of bolts, instructions & other stuff & immediately enlisted the services of my wife, who loves solving puzzles & building stuff. Anyway after much banging & crashing sounds coming from the garage, she finally called me to see. The unit was rock solid & with the extra shelf underneath I managed to put 6 plastic boxes for more storage. I also installed a long LED light underneath the ceiling of the unit.

Overall good product. Super easy to put together. A little larger in height for the work top than the measurements suggest.
It would benefit having the desk height on the image measurements.
For some reason I was expecting a metal work top but it's vinal MDF, so keep that in mind.
Super sturdy frame and looks great.
Only two issues:
1) hole misalignment on the metal back plates where it connects to the frame at one side. It's fits perfectly on one side but on the other the holes are a good 1-2 inches out.
2) the worst part, EXTREMELY strong smell/fumes coming from the wood. Causing burning of mine and my partners noses and eyes, and tight chests. This was pretty concerning so I tried to ventilate for a few days, no change. Ended up putting 3 coats of sealant on it which has helped. But not completely removed it.
MDF off-gasses formaldehyde, which usually is in small amounts and has a smell. So of this I am aware. But it was alarming how severe both of our reaction was to this which suggests a large amount being released. I hope the store owner can check this is up to code.

I took my time over building this making sure each item was bolted together correctly and ended up with a solid workbench it did take some time
I added an extra couple of bolts to make the back plate more solid
The drawers could be a bit better but overall I would recommend this bench it certainly made things easier to do those little jobs that we all have from time to time
